From the ashes is a collaborative research project with investigative and data journalists from ARIJ (Arabian Reporters for Investigative Journalism). The installation, involving sculptures and video, premiered at ARIJ 16th forum in Amman — Jordan, in december 2023. Along with the installation, a panel discussion took place, enabling discussions around the potential brought by journalists/designers collaborations.

The piece stemmed from a shared desire to bridge the gap between the field of journalism and design. Specifically, it explores how trans-disciplinary and cross-country collaboration can convey the complex stories of climate justice and governmental inaction to new audiences. Rather than writing an investigative paper, the project explores how a story incorporating both scientific data and an emotional dimension can be transformed into a comprehensive installation.
From the Ashes steps away from the fatalistic news reports, and tells the story of the surge in forest fires in Morocco, examining who profits from them and how government inaction fuels these disasters.
