The text «Urban signage and graphic Ecology» by Jérôme Denis and David Pontille deals with the way signs impact on our cities, and what is the sens of invading landscapes with them.
In this personal project, layout and photographies were the two aspects I decided to focus on, in order to discuss this omnipresence of signage, emblems, graffitis and more generally any text present in the streets.
I first took pictures of a suburban area of Geneva, inspired among others by the New Topographic aesthetic.
For each picture, I interfered on zones with typographic element to highlight both signs overuse and persistence.
Contrasting with these complex images, the use of wide white shapes and Raisonne typeface brings strength to the essay, and creates a sharp link between text and image
