sHeroes is an exhibition aiming at questioning women’s role and genders representation in video games industry from the past up to now. It is divided in two parts : one historical where visitors understand the main historical genders stereotypes in video games ; one where visitors can actually play with six games which are questioning bias and expectations we have from a video game (concerning its goals, characters, etc).
Together with Dimitri Delcourt, we worked on a set design where color would be brought only by lighting, just like screens. Rather than being a viewer, the visitor would turn into a player thanks to the black, intimate room, enhancing screens and games. The atmosphere and the way visitors would perceive the room has really been our focus point for this whole experience design.
I worked mainly on the set design and lightning design, first through 3D renders using Sketchup Pro and Indigo Renderer and then on ladders in real life. Art direction and project coordination were also important part of my tasks, since there was a need of concertation between different entities. For example managing the relationship betweeen wood construction, the museum head office, the printing workshop and game development.
The exhibition opened in march 2019 and is still ongoing.
